The Prequel to Paradise 4.0

in Progress

The Prequel to the Science Fiction Series “Paradise 4.0”

With “43/53,” Barry Redhead opens the gateway to his expansive science fiction universe “Paradise 4.0.” The prequel tells of the historical turning point at which humanity’s future no longer appears as an abstract possibility, but as an unavoidable decision: will humankind remain on a dying Earth — or dare to set out for new worlds? The title “43/53” refers to Resolution 43/53 of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted on December 6, 1988. In this resolution, the protection of the global climate for present and future generations became an international concern; the UN recognized climate change as a common concern of humankind and called for timely action within a global framework.

In Barry Redhead’s science fiction vision, this political signal becomes the starting point of a bitter question about the future: what happens when humanity was warned early enough — but acts too late? “43/53” is therefore more than a backstory; it is a moral prologue. The narrative stands at the beginning of a development in which state inaction, political compromise, economic interests, and technological hubris pave the way for private space missions, new colony projects, and the later world of “Paradise 4.0.”
The prequel tells of a humanity that does not discover paradise, but is forced to reinvent it out of necessity. Between climate crisis, corporate power, technological departure, and social denial, a future panorama emerges that begins frighteningly close to our present. “43/53” asks not only how the journey to the stars begins, but why it becomes necessary in the first place. As a prequel to “Paradise 4.0,” “43/53” combines political science fiction with ecological warning, spaceflight vision, and social analysis. It is the story of a departure born not from adventure, but from the failure of a civilization that ignored its own warning signs.

“43/53” is the first shadow before paradise. A prequel about responsibility, failure, and the question of whether humanity deserves a new world after failing to protect the old one.
